THE first round of voting on more than 100 projects suggested to boost Tavistock ends tomorrow (Friday).
The suggestions have been put forward by organisations and businesses involved in the Tavistock Town Centre BID (business improvement district) process.
Lots of businesses have already voted for the projects they feel passionate about and would like the BID to deliver if the programme goes ahead next year.
Phil Biggin, of Browns Hotel, said: 'The BID gives all businesses a chance to have their say. It's your choice — vote yes, vote no, but vote. In order for Tavistock to move forward we must come together, create a team, prove it can be done and make a difference.'
The Tavistock BID is being spearheaded by the town's chamber of commerce. A BID is a partnership between local businesses and the local authority — businesses belonging to the BID contribute financially to a five-year programme of projects which members have chosen to improve their trading environment. The money is collected by the local authority and ring-fenced for the chosen projects.
The project proposals are due to be refined in the spring of next year and a vote on whether to go ahead with the BID programme will take place in September.
To have your say on the BID proposals, vote online at http://www.tavistockbid.co.uk">www.tavistockbid.co.uk or call into the Times office in Brook Street, Tavistock and fill in the paper form.
