THE Dartmoor Pony Society is a chance to learn all about the native breed at a day-long event. It will take place on Sunday, May 20, at Shilstone Rocks Stud, Widdecombe in the Moor.

The event starts with a study morning entitled 'The A-Z of the Pedigree Dartmoor Pony' and will include guest speakers Joyce Newbery from Newoak Stud in Exeter and Diane Jordan from Moortown Stud, Chagford, who will introduce topics, including selecting a pony for purchase, keeping and caring for a pony, show production and more.

The afternoon will include a tour of the Shilstone Rocks Stud which has produced many superb ponies renowned for their consistency, versatility and temperament.

A private sale of ponies from both Shilstone Rocks and other local studs will take place by informal tender during the course of the afternoon.

Tickets are £10 per person for DPS members and £12.50 for non-members. A barbecue lunch will be available and those who wish to partake can pay for this on the day.
