THE Taw Valley in Belstone Cleave and the open moor around Skaigh Warren will be the focus of the annual dawn chorus walk which leaves Belstone Village Hall at 5.30am on Sunday, May 6.
After a couple of hours identifying birds and deciphering their songs, walkers will return to the hall for a breakfast of cereals, toast, bacon rolls, cheese scones and hot drinks.
Mark Blacksell set up and led the first dawn chorus walk around Belstone parish ten years ago.
Thirty six species were seen or heard that morning in the woods, lanes, fields and open moor that make up the varied habitats of this moorland village, and the event has prospered ever since.
Walking boots are recommended for the walk, and dogs are not permitted.
Suggested donations of £2 for the walk or £5 for the walk and breakfast will be gratefully received for hall funds.
