IN group four of the Pretoria Handicap Cup in the Okehampton and district table tennis league this week Okehampton A were at home to last year's winners Moretonhampstead B. In the first doubles Tony Howick and John Squire played David Shilston and Peter Denman. David and Peter won in straight sets 18-21, 5-21. Tony Howick played Richard Underhill in the first singles; in a hard fought game Tony played well to put the match score 1-1 beating Richard 21-18,24-22. Frank Cockburn played David Shilston in the next singles, which was again a close game, David just edging it 21-23, 15-21. Moretonhampstead won the next doubles in the third leg, to go 3-1 ahead and then won the next singles when Peter Denman beat John Squire to go up 4-1. The tightest match of the night was next, Frank Cockburn against Richard Underhill, Frank winning 24-22, 20-22, 23-21. There was another three leg game in the last singles between Tony Howick against David Shilston; after losing the first leg 21-17, David fought back to win the next two 14-21,19-21 for a 5-2 win for Moretonhampstead B. The last match in this group two for Moretonhampstead B is at home to North Wyke. The last match in group two for Tavistock B is against Lewdown. The other two groups are completed.
