Exeter Civil Service 1
Hatherleigh 3
FOLLOWING last week's blip against Okehampton, Hatherleigh returned to winning ways with a fine display against a struggling Civil Service.
The first half saw Hatherleigh play with the wind and apart from a five-minute spell midway through the half they dominated.
Nathaniel Davey got the breakthrough after 20 minutes when a good ball from Simon James split the home defence for Davey to slide past the keeper.
Hatherleigh could have gone further ahead but for the woodwork. However, just before half-time the visitors extended their lead with a carbon copy of the first goal, Davey once again getting the finishing touch.
The second half was always going to be a much different affair. Playing against a stiff breeze Hatherleigh relied on the counter attack, and within a few minutes caught the home defence napping. It was Davey again whose shot could only be parried by the keeper into the net for his and Hatherleigh's third.
With the result now never in doubt Hatherleigh sat back, a little too much at times, and allowed Civil to cause a few anxious moments for the visitors.
Their efforts were rewarded with only a few minutes to go as they got a deserved consolation goal.
This week Hatherleigh are away to Exeter St Thomas.
