THE public inquiry into West Devon Borough Council's Local Plan Review will open on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at 10am, it was announced last week.
The public inquiry was called after a large number of unresolved objections to the plan review.
A pre-inquiry informal meeting will be held at West Devon Borough Council Chamber in Tavistock on Wednesday, September 25 to help the inspector and all interested parties prepare for the actual inquiry. All those who have made representations are invited.
Questionnaires have been sent for every representation made, which are to be returned by Friday, August 30. These will help identify which will be dealt with by written submissions and which will be heard orally at the inquiry.
There were 1,058 objections to specific aspects of the first deposit draft of the plan review and 107 representations of support. Following consideration of the objections the council published a second deposit in April 2002, and a further 690 representations were received — 186 of which were in support.
Any queries concerning the inquiry should be directed to Mr Peter Pritchard at Room 22, Oaklands Drive, Okehampton, EX20 1LH, tel: 01822 813739.
