THE Dartmoor Challenge Group?s recent walk has raised in excess of £9,500 for CLIC.
At a special evening held at the Plume of Feathers, Princetown CLIC representative Andy Jarrad received a cheque for £9,099 from the Dartmoor Challenge Group and a cheque for £520 from the West Devon Explorer Scouts.
Steve Parker, who organises the Dartmoor Challenge Group two-day walks said he was delighted with the amount handed over to the charity on the evening.
He said there may be more sponsorship money yet to come. Steve was also pleased that more people from Princetown had become involved in the annual event.
?I have been running it for 12 years. We have a lot of backing from businesses in Princetown and a lot of people from the community are involved,? he said.
Each year he organises a walk covering 30 miles in two days ? with the start and finish at Princetown.
?First I get out my map, then I do the route alone and then I take some people out with me and we build the route up and make adjustments,? he said.
?Next year I?m linking up the two official letterboxes on Dartmoor ? Cranmere Pool in the north and Duckspool on the south of the moor.?
