THE newly-formed Dartmoor Association for Rural Trade showed off Dartmoor at the recent Outdoors Show at Birmingham NEC. DART had taken a stand at the show, which was held from March 18 to 20, and members of the association provided brochures and leaflets and chatted to interested visitors from all over the country. DART organiser Peter Farrington said Dartmoor National Park Authority had helped them by organising the printing of the new Dartmoor Visitor newspaper in time for the show, providing 2,000 copies which were ?very popular with visitors?. He said: ?There was an excellent turnout for the show, considering the brilliant weather that weekend, and I would expect a significant number of those who came to the show to be visiting Dartmoor this year.? As well as copies of the Dartmoor Visitor, the Dartmoor Tourist Association?s ?Breath of Fresh Air? brochure was also distributed. Current DART members include the Miniature Pony Centre, the River Dart Adventure Park and a number of accommodation providers. The organisation was set up not only to help promote Dartmoor, but to champion the needs of local businesses across the moor. It was the brainchild of Peter Farrington, who also runs Lydgate House Hotel. He hopes to enlist the support of 3,000 businesses based on and around the moor.
