A DARTMOOR-BASED theatre company is on the look out for young people from the West Devon area to take part in Dartfest 2007. The MED Theatre festival is to showcase young people?s plays and will take place on November 23-24 at Moretonhampstead. Young people aged 10-19 years are needed to write their own plays and then direct or perform in the plays a month later. No experience is necessary and no audition will be required. Young playwrights can also choose to work with playwright Mark Beeson to help develop their scripts. Young people who have already been working on plays in MED Theatre?s weekly Wild NIghts Young Company and Junior Drama Clubs will be presenting their plays at the festival. In addition to attending weekly drama and playwriting clubs, many of the participants have been working on full-length plays to be performed across Devon ? including The Children?s Castle, recently performed at Castle Drogo. The Dartmoor Dartfest 2007 will be part of MED Theatre?s new education programme, with an investment from Futurebuilders England. MED Theatre uses theatre as a medium to bring together children, teenagers and adults to play and work together and mixes local professional artists with community participants. Social, scientific and environmental issues are dramatised, expressing how it feels to live on Dartmoor. More information is available at http://www.medtheatre.co.uk">www.medtheatre.co.uk
