FOLLOWING the success of the trial of the first film showings in Okehampton by Moving Pictures, films will be shown throughout the autumn.
Moving Pictures is the non-profit-making community cinema for Okehampton and district, which has shown three films in the Charter Hall in the town. Having ascertained that there is a demand, films for the autumn will include Shrek 2.
The next film will be Dark Blue World (certificate 12), described as an involved and inventive second world war drama, funny, romantic and moving.
The film depicts two Czechoslovak pilots expelled from their airfield during the Nazi occupation. They make their way to England where they are welcomed into the RAF and fight in the Battle of Britain. They both fall for the same woman.
South Devon author James Stevenson will briefly introduce the show with a personal account of how he witnessed the bombing of Dartmouth?s Royal Naval College in September 1942, which inspired him to write his first novel ?Dartmouth Conspiracy?.
The film is showing at the Charter Hall in Okehampton on Wednesday, September 1. Doors open at 6.30pm with the film starting at 7pm.
Tickets are available in advance from Millenium Music or on the door on the night, price £3.75. It is recommended to take a cushion. There will be a draw for a signed copy of ?Dartmouth Conspiracy?.
Other films planned for the autumn include Spinal Tap, Best in Show, Terminator 3, Spiderman 2 and Shrek 2. Volunteers are still needed to ensure the successful running of the project.
