I FULLY support the comments outlined on this page last week, regarding the dangerous parking situation. I drive along Glanville Road in both directions at least once a day. The mini bus parked on the bend negates any possibility of drivers seeing oncoming traffic until after pulling out into the middle of the road. As it is the driver's right of way coming from the opposite direction, they are usually proceeding at normal speed. There have been several near misses. May I also comment on the situation at the top of Bannawell Street where it meets Glanville Road. A vehicle with blacked out windows is often parked at the top of the main road close to the junction. Drivers exiting Glanville Road to turn either left or right simply cannot see down the hill, around or beyond the vehicle at all. The only option is to listen, nudge forward and then hope for the best. A young man drove into me at this junction as I came down Butcher Park Hill last year. He was so intent on trying to see if any traffic was coming up from the town, that he omitted to check to his left again. I had some sympathy for him, despite the inconvenience of repairs etc. Double yellow lines on the bend in Glanville Road and on the top few metres of Bannawell Street would make our journeys so much safer. Name and address supplied. IN reply to H Parker's letter, l take it that the writer is not a resident of Glanville Road. For many years residents have had to suffer from Glanville Road being the subject of dangerous driving and a residential area being used as a rat run. If, as suggested by H Parker, double yellow lines were put into use, l dread to think how fast drivers would travel along the road. As a police officer commented, at least with the vehicles parked as they are, they serve to slow the traffic down. L Colomb Tavistock
