SOME delightful dancing has boosted a vital fund at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Every year, the Winkleigh Morris Dancers raise money for a charity — and for 2007 they chose the hospital's paediatric oncology fund because of a local connection. Pippa Hutchinson and Jamie Stuart, landlords of the Duke of York pub in Iddesleigh, where the group dances twice a year, have a six-year-old son, Sam, who is an oncology patient at the hospital. The morris dancers decided to raise money for the fund in recognition of the work the hospital has done for Sam. To mark the presentation of the cheque, a celebration evening was held at the Duke of York. In attendance were Winkleigh Morris and dancers from other groups, namely, the Sticklepath-based Cogs and Wheels, and the Tarka Morris, which also presented £100 to the fund, along with many of the locals.
