A STAINED glass window on the chapel at South Zeal was broken recently, causing £500 worth of damage.
The image of Christ positioned in the middle of the window of St Mary's Church was knocked out after it was hit by a football.
Most residents have expressed their disappointment that no-one has owned up to the incident. It will set the church's fund back a large amount to repair the 13th century church bells.
Lorinda Legge, one of two churchwardens, said it would be nice to have an apology from whoever did this to the Grade II star listed building.
She said: 'No-one has owned up to the damage, but I don't think that anyone did this on purpose, especially as the window is up high, so it couldn't have been done deliberately.
'The amount to repair the window isn't a lot, but we have to also find £1,750 plus to repair the clock, so it all adds up.
'An apology would be nice — even an anonymous one.'
