AT THE opening ceremony at Spreyton Flower Show, chairman Tony Talbot paid tribute to the elected president John Williams, who works tirelessly for the village, especially for St Michael's Church. Mr Williams praised the standard of the show, he had a sneak preview and he emphasized how important growing things and nature are to mankind.
Show stewards Sharon Hawking and Emma Ames had a difficult task working out profit's for the various trophies.

Part of the flower show profit is traditionally sent to the RNIB, whose produce stall was run by Hilary Elston and Ann Barber; door stewards - Douglas and Betty Endacott; bottle stall Dougie Callard and tombola - Tessa Collins.
The superb teas were organised by Elizabeth Williams, assisted by Alethea Kennerly, Wendy Sincock, Helen Powesland and Caroline Shipley.
Children's sports were run by Amanda Moreton-Hubbard. Judges lunches were provided by the Tom Cobley Tavern.
Treasurer Angela Hawkins, who had sorted out the prize money is the person with the task of working out profits.
The auction followed the show, conducted by Douglas Endacott, assisted by Angela Hawkins.
The whist drive, organised by Eve and Cleave Collins made a profit of £134. MC was Ken Vile.
