WITH blue sky all around, 21 U10s' teams from Devon rugby clubs met at Exeter Saracens ground for their end of season festival.

Tavistock drew Topsham and Exeter Saracens in their group.

A slow start from Tavistock saw them let in four tries in the first half before they woke up. However, great play from Morgan Turnock and Zac Gorton saw Tavistock grow in confidence.

In the second half there were two great tries from Jude White but Topsham pulled one back to leave the final score 25 -10.

The second game saw Tavy beat Exeter Saracens, as Tom Pearson started to show his agility, and Jack Smyly led the line with Joe Turnock leading the scrum. Tries from Jude, Lochlan Fulton, George Kharas, Tom and Joe secured a 45-0l win.

Tavistock were now into the plate quarter-finals against Newton Abbot. They took the lead with a try from Jack, and with Luke and Jason rucking well and Lachlan tackling and mauling superbly.

However, a lapse in concentration let Newton Abbot score in the second half and despite being held up twice on the Newton line, Tavistock could not go the last yard.

The draw meant a coin toss was used to decide the result, which unfortunately went against them. Tavistock player of the festival was George Kharas.

Coach Jon Blake said: 'Tavistock U10s have had a great season and played as a real team, always supporting their fellow team mates through thick and thin, win or lose. They have represented their club and town with pride, and the squad all look forward to next year.'
