Whitchurch Wayfarers v Cornwall Over 50s CRICKET week at Whitchurch Wayfarers got off to a glorious start with a tied game. A traditional timed game resulted in a wonderful competition between two close teams. Batting first, Cornwall made a slow but steady start with Balman finding it hard to get runs against tight bowling from Korantang and Murphy. When Pascoe joined Phillips the scoring moved on apace with Cornwall eventually setting a demanding 185 to win. The youngsters of Whitchurch made a fine start with Churchill, Daymond, Poppe and Korantang all making the task appear easy. Once they had gone, the experience of Cornwall told and wickets fell regularly until the last wicket pair needed just one run to win.
