NINE fire fighters from Callington Fire Station attended reports of a chimney fire on Monday morning, with smoke coming from the roof tiles of a property in Calstock. On arrival just before 8.30am, crews used a triple extension ladder, a roof ladder, a hose reel and stirrup pump and rods to extinguish the fire. They then investigated neighbouring properties to make sure the blaze had not spread. While in the area crews carried out home fire safety checks on nearby properties.
