Crescent 1

Okehampton Argyle Seconds 4

THIS scoreline is remarkable due to the fact that Okehampton travelled with nine players due to first team call-ups and some let downs.

The pre-match team talk was about damage limitation and working hard. The following 90 minutes showed what nine committed players could achieve.

The unthinkable happened straight from the kick -off - Okehampton pressured the home side into giving the ball away cheaply and from a deep left wing cross Daniel Johnstone's back header was nodded home with his first touch of the ball by Simon Welfare, making his debut for Okehampton.

Sean Sandercock commanded his box all afternoon but could do little to stop a shot for the equaliser.

Crescent were then stunned when Tim Shaw blasted home an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net after great midfield play from Steve Williams and Daniel Gibbs to show they were not giving up without a fight.

At half-time Crescent changed their format but saw Okehampton get stronger and even more committed to hang on to their spoils. With Crescent's forwards getting no change from Chris Wills, James Williams and captain Steve Ausden who controlled superbly. Shaw looked sharp on the breakaway and added two fine goals to leave the home team manager gasping in disbelief as Okehampton finished in style.

This week home to Dunkerswell, 2.30pm kick-off.
