TAVISTOCK Swimming Club recently competed in the Speedo League, Division 3 final held at Hutton Moor. Both Peter Freedman and James Lake had convincing wins in the open 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly, with James Lake achieving a personal best in the butterfly. The men?s open 4x50m Medley Relay Team of Peter Freedman, Mark Hennessey, James Lake and Michael Best gave Tavistock their first win and were joined by Phillip and Chris Ralph in the open 4x50m Freestyle being just beaten on the touch by the eventual gala winners. The ladies open 4x50m freestyle relay team of Alison Kelly, Kirsty Best, Laura Aspen, Rachael Kelly, Laura Radgick and Sam Lake took third place against some tough competition. The boys?13/u 4x50m Medley Relay Team of Tom Crocker, Tom Waddington, Joshua Stephens and Sam Harmsworth also competed well to gain a third place. In the individual races third place and personal best times went to Sam Campbell in the boys 10-11 breaststroke, Tom Waddington in the boys13/u breaststroke, Sam Harmsworth in the boys 13/u freestyle and Kirsty Best in girls 15/u breaststroke. Third places were also gained by Laura Aspen in 13/u freestyle and Ross Williams in 15/u butterfly. Overall there were a total of twenty-two personal bests. These included Natalie Greep in the girls 10-11 backstroke and butterfly; Ella Waddington girls 10-11 breaststroke; Joshua Stephens 13/u backstroke; Sam Harmsworth 13/u butterfly; Kirsty Best 15/u backstroke; Laura Radgick 15/u butterfly and freestyle; Phillip Webb 15/u backstroke; Alison Kelly ladies? open breaststroke; Sam Lake ladies open freestyle; and Chris Ralph men?s open freestyle. Rebecca Windemer, Catriona Smith, Tom Crocker and Ross Williams also achieved personal best times in the first leg of their relays.
