The Tamar Valley gets a lick of paint from young artists. Young artists are being encouraged to capture the uniquely stunning beauty of the Tamar Valley this summer. Tavistock Library and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team have joined forces this year for the Big Wild Read, a Devon-wide initiative which encourages children to develop their reading skills during the summer holidays as well as learning about the natural beauty on their doorsteps. Children are being invited to draw, paint, or create a collage of their favourite place or view within the Tamar Valley AONB. A large map of the AONB area can be viewed at the library. All entries must be no larger than A4, and handed in to the library by Saturday August 25. Pictures will be judged shortly after the closing date by Tavistock artist Caroline Keane. There are three age categories and three chances to win exciting prizes: l under 7 years ? the winner will receive a family day pass donated by Tamar Valley Donkey Park, St Ann?s Chapel l 7-11 years ? the winner will receive a family day pass donated by Morwellham Quay l 12-18 years ? the winner will receive an art voucher donated by Mainly Stationery, Tavistock.
