Tavistock 4
Liskeard 1
A GOAL came for Tavistock in just under a minute — a Glyn Hobbs cross and a Shane Krac header gave them an early lead.
Tavistock looked dangerous with good work from strikers Mike Southgate and Hobbs and a strong midfield with Dave Hallet and Krac putting in good performances.
Tavistock's keeper was not kept quiet all night though. He had to make a fantastic close range save on the half-hour mark. A great dive to his left kept Tavistock in the lead.
Minutes later Krac got his second with a header from a Lee Bevan corner. Ten minutes before the break Mike Southgate just headed wide and Liskeard had a 20-yard shot easily saved.
The Liskeard left winger then got booked seconds before half-time, showing his frustration with his team's performance.
The second half was better for Liskeard and they hit the post early on with a great volley from 20 yards.
Hobbs then had a great run but missed the target and Dan Pethick just slightly over ran it but came close to getting Tavistock's third.
Tavistock kept pressing and Hobbs had a chance which deserved to go in when he took on four then hit a curling shot just agonisingly over the bar.
With 15 minutes to go Liskeard won a penalty and they scored from the spot to make it 2-1 and give them a chance to nick a point.
But Tavistock were having none of it though and on the 81st minute Hobbs slotted home from the left with a well deserved goal.
There was just enough time for Tavistock to grab a fourth when Ryan Honey took a free kick on the edge of the area which was deflected in and left the keeper stranded.
The first team's next game is away to Witheridge, kick off 2.15pm.
