WHETHER the visitor to this year's Devon Show is from 'town' or 'country' there was plenty to entertain the expected 95,000 who flocked to the Westpoint site in Exeter this week.

The three day show, which takes a year to plan, included many number of exhibitors, livestock entries and businesses from the West Devon area - and not without some success when the prizes were handed out by the judges!

'The atmosphere has been amazing,' said show secretary Ollie Allen. 'From the moment we opened the gates, the showground has been buzzing. Our early indication from the number of cars in the car parks is that we are having an exceptionally busy first day. We won't have precise numbers until after we close the gates on Saturday but it's looking good.'

This year's star attraction were the impressive Royal Canadian Mounted Police who performed their musical ride in the main arena.

Adam Henson, from BBC's Countryfile came to judge the rare breed sheep while chart topping choir The Military Wives from Lympstone were one of the musical treats.

It would not be a proper 'County Show' without the magnificent Parade of Livestock each afternoon — and this year's entries certainly maintain the high standards expected from entries.

Add to that the comic robot Titan, clowns, axe racing, falconry displays, cookery demonstrations, craft displays, Mr and Mrs Mouse and the fantastic marching bands, Band of HM Royal Marines and the Massed Bands of Pipes and Drums, Devon - all helping to entertain visitors of all ages.
