A SERIES of walks and skills courses have been arranged by South West Lakes Trust for people in the West Devon area this autumn. Steve Avenell of Tavistock and District Conservation Group will take the first event ? a stone wall/stone faced bank repair workshop ? on Sunday October 16. The day course, which starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm, will be held at Tamar Lakes near Bude. Roadford Lake is the setting for a hedge laying course during Devon Hedge Week on Sunday October 23 and on Sunday October 30 there will be an Enjoy Autumn guided walk around the lake, led by ranger Mark Green. On Sunday November 20, area ranger Ben Smeeth will lead a Winter Wildfowl Walk at Tamar Lakes near Bude, giving an insight into the birds to be found around the lakes in winter. Booking is not required for the walks but is necessary for the courses, as places are limited. For more information, call South West Lakes Trust on 01566 771930.
