THE golden wedding garden party in Yelverton of retired primary headteacher Neville Gelling and his wife Rosalie, reunited their original bridesmaids and best man from 50 years ago — and raised money for two charities.

Relatives from far and wide joined a host of the couple's friends and neighbours.

Guests were entertained with an informal concert by the couple's son Arthur, daughter Rowena and grandchildren Jay, Mia, Jasmin and Ross.

It included a rendition of 'Pendragon Rag', performed by Rosalie herself on the tin whistle and was rounded off with 'Men of Harlech', performed by Neville on harmonica.

Everyone was treated to delicious home-made Devon splits made by neighbour Paula Courts, plus a lavish buffet provided by the couple, Arthur, Rowena, daughter-in-law Namrita and son-in-law Andy.

Neville and Rosalie had requested charitable donations in lieu of any gifts.

They have a rescue greyhound Molly, and £127.50 was raised for the Retired Greyhound Trust.

The sum of £150 was also donated by guests to Tavistock Area Support Services.
