A HATHERLEIGH couple will be turning the contents of their home out for the bargain hunters next week, when they feature in the popular ITV programme ?Everything Must Go!?

Jo and Roy Barrett want to sell their unwanted clutter in a bid to buy a camper van in which they can travel the world.

Jo, a freelance hairdresser, said: ?We always wanted to do this but we had our first son when we were 20 and 21 and so chose to have children first.

?I lost my best friend in January, very unexpectedly, and it was a big wake-up call, it put everything into perspective really and we just thought ?go for it?.?

Jo said she and Roy, an IT trainer, would be renting out their house while they were abroad, so they needed to get rid of possessions and felt they could realise some much needed cash to buy their ?truck?.

She contacted the TV company which makes ?Everything Must Go!? and things snowballed from there.

?Everything started happening very quickly. They rang and said they wanted to come and see what we had to sell and a few days later they phoned and said they?d like to do it,? said Jo, who admitted that now she and Roy had made the decision to go ahead with their dream, it was ?quite scary?.

The couple are hoping to realise about £1,000 by the sale and auction of their possessions. They intend to take off on the road next spring.

On offer will be china tea sets, including some Royal Doulton, silverware, furniture, bedding, luggage, exercise equipment, children?s toys and ornaments, all good quality.

A spokesman for Everything Must Go said: ?Last year we made over £100,000 for home-owners, from just selling their unwanted clutter.

?The programme is recorded over just one day and it?s a fantastic opportunity for people who have been hoarding stuff for years and need a good clear out of their lofts, garages and box rooms.

?It?s great fun for buyers and sellers and there?s cash in hand for our contributors at the end of the day!?

The cameras will be rolling in Buddle Lane, Hatherleigh, on Thursday May 13 ? the sale takes place between 3.30pm and 6pm ? all welcome. The programme is due to be broadcast in September.
