AN East Cornwall restaurant is up against two of the county's finest in the finals of a prestigious restaurant award.

Langmans Restaurant in Callington has been selected as one of the three finalists for the Restaurant of the Year Award 2014 by Visit Cornwall.

Owners Gail and Anton Buttery will attend an awards ceremony on November 6 to hear whether they have been crowned winners of the industry award. The two other finalist restaurants are owned by two Michelin star chef, Nathan Outlaw, at Rock and Port Isaac.

Langmans Restaurant has impressed judges for more than a decade having won the tourism award in 2002 and 2004 and coming runner up in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Gail said: 'During those five years we had been winner twice and finalist three times so we though it was time to take a step back and didn't enter again until this year.

'We are delighted to be a finalist and to be up there with Cornwall's two Michelin star chef. It would be fantastic if we could make it for a third time. Just being a finalist is great, winning would be wonderful —but Nathan Outlaw is hard to beat!'
