Devon County Youth Brass Band is the brainchild of the musical director, Peter Jones of Tavistock.
The band consists of young people between the ages of 12 and 24 from across the whole of Devon. It gives them the opportunity to play and perform traditional and contemporary brass band music with people of their own age.
At the concert in the United Reformed Church, the band played traditional and contemporary pieces and showed the audience how talented and versatile they are by singing and playing other instruments.
There was a substantial and appreciative audience, and the band raised much needed funds.
The concert was sponsored by Tavistock Music Live, the United Reform church, DCC LDP and the Tavistock music festival. It was also attended by Lord and Lady Burnett, The mayor and mayoress of Tavistock Cllr Phillip and Dr Hilary Sanders, the mayor and mayoress of West Devon Borough Council Cllr Donald Horn his wife Mary and the vice chair of Devon County Council and his wife. The concert was also recorded by Mr David Squibb for the Tavistock talking newspaper.
