RESIDENTS in Okehampton can once again access the town council's website, after it was hacked by supporters of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
The website http://www.okehampton.gov.uk">www.okehampton.gov.uk was hacked on Christmas Eve and replaced by an image of Assange freedom protestors and a simple caption reading 'Down by xTerror'.
The council website came back online on Tuesday January 18 after nearly a month of inaccessibility, due to the website designer being away on holiday.
It is thought the Okehampton website was hacked as part of a random campaign, possibly aimed at websites with .gov.uk addresses.
