Tavistock U13s 21
Launceston U13s 0
THIS local derby saw two closely matched teams ensured a fine game of rugby as the conclusion to this year's fixtures.
Launceston started with a long run deep into Tavistock's half, just held up by Warlow at full back. From the lineout Tavistock gained possession from Leeson who presented the ball to be released along the threequarters for a run from inside their own 25-metre area.
O'Neill offloaded the ball regularly after committing several tacklers. The forwards drove and recycled possession several times before man of the match Lashbrook took on the charge from five metres out and scored. The conversion was completed by Milligan with a fine kick into the wind from 20 metres out.
From a scrum inside their 25 metres, a quick heel by hooker Roberts saw scrum half Lane make a break for the blind side. With a gap in front he outstripped the entire Launceston defence to score under the posts; converted by Milligan.
In the second half Tavistock had the advantage of playing downhill. Smith drove into his opposite number and recycled the ball with accuracy that allowed Lane to feed to James at centre. The ball was taken into the maul and the recycle came back towards Cuthbert who delayed the pass to allow Thompson to use his speed and footwork to work his way towards the line. From the set scrum the ball was worked along the line towards Hall who scored another solo try under the posts, again converted by Milligan.

TAVISTOCK gave their best performance of the season so far. In difficult conditions multiple try-scorers Matthew and Daniel Dobie cut through the defence to show the way with Zak Brinkhurst and Alex Ferguson adding their names to the scoresheet.
Tom Jackman scored two — the first with an elusive run and the second a reward for excellent support play. With George Carter breaking up the opposition's attacks and Nick Jury adding steel to the defence Tavistock's victory was assured when Johnnie Massey crossed the line for his first try for the side.
The second game featured more selfless play from Nick Piper and unstinting covering by Charlie Carter. Angus Hogg and Emmie Hoyte showed excellent commitment in trying conditions. Marcus Hoddinott kept Tavistock in the hunt with an excellent solo run and Barney Megicks and Adam Billington combined to create the try of the day. Billington went over to mark his home debut with a try.
