UNDERSTANDING the weird and wonderful facts of apples were the children, parents and staff at Lifton Primary School. The children were in for a treat for ?Apple Harvest Week? when they took part in many activities. They completed a mural of an apple tree on the outside wall of the school then made apple crumbles, and for the last day of the week they had a special visit from the Common Players. The players showed the children how to press apples with their own mobile apple press, called Pomona. The children watched the process of how to extract juice from the apple, and then tasted the apple juice and took some home. Afterwards the children were joined by friends and family who also enjoyed face painting, watching how the apples are pressed, and the delights of the school PTA?s barbecue.
