AS the golfing season gradually winds down the weather has been reaonably kind for the October matches at Tavistock Golf Club.
The annual Greenkeeper's stableford competition was won by Tony Cooper with 41 points. Second was Sam Hurdwell with 39 points just beating Nick Mier by one. Sally Hills won division 1 with 31 points and in division 2 Lyn Jones had 32 pts with Jan Walls coming a close second with 31 points.
In the ladies' monthly stableford Penny Deakin in division 1 had 33 points, second Jill Hill with 32 points and third Hilary Picton with 30 points. Division 2: 1, Wendy George 30 points; 2, Barbara Ham 26 points; 3, Barbara Chalk 23 points.
The monthly medal was played in conjunction with the Wycisk Cup. This year results were very close. In division 1 Shirley Trevena came in with a nett 78 with Penny Deakin nett 79 and Belinda McSherry with a nett 80. In division 2 Gail Reed had nett 77 on countback from Lyn Alderman with Margot Angel third with nett 79. Gail is, therefore, this year's winner of the cup.
In the men's monthly medal John Thackham had nett 63 on countback from Gareth George. Steve Thackham came third with a nett 71.
The Foster Ferris Trophy, a mixed team competition, was narrowly won by Mike Apps and Colin Gentry with nett 63 just beating Paul and Patty Congo by one stroke. Brett Mannering and Will Spearing came third with a nett 66.
