THIS friendly hockey match played in spring sunshine was greatly enjoyed by Okehampton.
Chudleigh?s second team, playing at Totnes, played a spirited and good-hearted game and Okehampton responded in kind.
Sandi Douglas scored the first goal after intensive work in the goalmouth among all the forwards. Some good passing from among the Chudleigh forwards led to them scoring and bringing the score to 1-1 just before half-time.
Okehampton had several strikes at goal with some hitting the post and one memorable one by Sue Stanbury striking the crossbar.
Carol Taylor had another good game at centre back. One of her excellent hit outs was picked up by Kelly Cooper who took it in a solo run past defenders to score Okehampton?s second.
The game moved from end to end with Sharon Stephens in goal clearing the ball on several occasions. Chudleigh broke through to equalise.
This week Okehampton have another friendly, this time against White Eagles at Tiverton. They have two more league matches and are currently top of the league although hard-pressed by Tavistock who are second.
