MOUNT House Under-13 rounders girls scored a convincing victory over Exeter Cathedral School, with strong performances both batting and in the field.

Mount House won the toss and put the opposition into bat first. Holly Wixon's tight bowling and accurate throws from Lizzie Fearnley to Alice Donne resulted in three early stumpings, and three fine catches meant that the visitors lost six wickets in 11 balls. Another stumping soon after, left Exeter to defend a first innings total of just one and a half rounders. Mount House took their time to build a solid nine thanks to good work by Lizzie, Holly, Lucy Redman and Tabitha Unsworth-White.

In the second innings, slack fielding allowed Exeter to score two unnecessary half rounders, but Mount House restricted them to three rounders in all, and came out clear winners by an innings and four-and-a-half.

Although this was a comfortable win, the Mount House girls will need to improve on their fielding and be more decisive with their throwing into the posts when they come up against stronger sides.
