Tavistock 27 OPMs 18 TAVISTOCK avenged an earlier season league defeat when they eventually ran out convincing winners scoring five tries to the visitors? two. The defeat was not however without its hiccups as Tavistock leaked two early tries to go twelve points down in the first fifteen minutes. First to score for OPMs was flanker Rees Phillips after less than five minutes when he finished off a three quarter move. Neil Bellamy converted. The next OPM try went to winger Neil Hague, who crossed wide out for an unconverted score. The Tavistock pack then got to grips with their opposite numbers and started to dominate the game. In the scrummage the Tavistock pack shoved OPMs all over the park and Tom Hurdwell in particular was mightily impressive in both the scrum and carrying the ball. From this domination Tavistock got back on level terms by half time via two tries of their own. Firstly Lee Greatrex broke on the narrow side and fed full back Kyle Langdon who scored in the left hand corner. The second Tavistock try came via a clean catch in the lineout by Andy Hunt, the pack set up a driving maul and Tom Hurdwell claimed the try. Josh Sutton slotted the conversion. Early in the second half Elliot James put the OPM back in front with a dropped goal only to see Tavistock regain the lead via a try from scrum half Lee Greatrex, who claimed the try after hard work from the forwards had set up the platform after a catch and drive at the lineout. The lead changed hands again via a Neil Bellamy penalty goal. Tavistock then took the lead going into the final quarter. Lee Greatrex claimed a second try again after good work by the pack to put the home side two points in front. Tavistock put the icing on the cake four minutes from time with their final score. Fly half Josh Sutton made a break in midfield and fed Paul Greenhil who took the ball into contact and set up a ruck. The ball was recycled via Lee Greatrex to Sutton who moved right and his pass put full back Kyle Landon in at the corner for his second score. On Saturday Tavistock will be in league action at Falmouth kick off 2.30 pm.
