MUCH has been said already about the ways in which the late Robin Fenner enriched the lives of the people of Tavistock.
I should like to add to that sentiment by reminding local residents that Robin was a founder members of the Tavistock and District Local History Society and was also responsible for setting up the town?s museum.
During his mayoralty he was instrumental in persuading his fellow councillors to provide two rooms in the council chamber for this venture. Via his wide circle of contacts and through his own generosity, he gathered together the exhibits for the opening day and, with his usual flair, invited the Marquis of Tavistock to come down and ?do the honours?.
The local history society continues to flourish and the museum has, this year, moved into its new home in Court Gate, where the main gallery is named in Robin?s honour.
He was a man who made things happen and with his energy enthusiasm and determination led the way in pioneering many improvements in the town he loved. These will be his continuing memorial.
