THE Continental market which filled Bedford Square for three days last week has been hailed as a great success.
Tavistock Pannier Market reeve Eddie Carruthers said the event had proved popular with shoppers and visitors to the town.
He said: ?It was fantastic, it really was. We had very few problems and the pannier market itself was packed ? it definitely brought a lot of people in.
?The stall holders thought it was fantastic, so I imagine they will be booking to come back again. On the whole, I think the event was brilliant.?
The Continental market, which included French cheeses, charcuterie, olives, soaps and preserves, was declared open by the town?s deputy mayor, Cllr Caroline Keane.
She said: ?It?s lovely to see Bedford Square looking so lively and busy.
?This sort of colourful and vibrant event is exactly what we want in the square ? I think it gives a different perspective to the town, it brings people in to experience all that we have to offer here and it?s exciting to see so many obviously enjoying themselves in Tavistock.?
