MORE than 100 people attended an exhibition and first day of consultation on the emerging plans for the Tavistock Conservation Area last Saturday.

Particular interest was shown by many in the proposals to extend the boundary of the Conservation Area, and how that might affect their property in the future.

Cllr Terry Pearce, mayor of West Devon, said: 'I was pleased so many people attended the consultation event. There seemed to be genuine interest in the proposals, which will affect everyone — both in the existing Conservation Areas and those proposed to be included.

'It's important that residents and businesses feed back their views to us over the next few weeks, so I urge you to send us your comments, and fill in and return the questionnaire. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve the historic core of Tavistock and provide better facilities for everyone to enjoy.'

The exhibition is now at the Tavistock Library until Wednesday, November 5.

Questionnaires about the proposals are available at the Library, from the West Devon Borough Council offices and online on the council's website at http://www.westdevon.gov.uk">www.westdevon.gov.uk.

They should be returned to Robert Plumb, regeneration officer, West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Park, Tavistock PL19 0BZ by Friday December 5.
