WEST Devon residents are being urged to come along to consultation events around the borough to have their say on the future of the area.

Officers from West Devon Borough Council will be on hand to listen to your feedback at Hatherleigh Community Centre on Thursday, March 12 from 2pm until 8pm and Tavistock Town Hall on Saturday, March 14 from 10am until 4pm.

The team has already held drop-in sessions in Bere Alston, Hatherleigh and Okehampton to give residents a chance to find out more about the plan and have their say on shaping the development of the area between now and 2031.

'Our Plan' sets out what the borough may look like in the future as the council plans for new homes, future jobs and ensures that there is the necessary infrastructure to support such developments. The draft plan also sets out the council's approach to issue including renewable energy and affordable housing.

The 'Our Plan' formal consultation period started on Thursday, February 26 and will run for six weeks until Monday, April 13.

The final two events will take place jointly with the local neighbourhood planning groups in Lifton and North Tawton.

Strategic planning officers will be available in the Tamar Room of the Arundell Arms, Lifton, on Wednesday, March 18 from 2pm until 8pm to consult with residents and collect feedback to shape the plan.

The team will then be joined by the North Tawton Neighbourhood Planning Group and the West Devon Connect outreach service at North Tawton Town Hall on Saturday, March 21 between 10am and 4pm.

A whole host of representatives from various organisations around the borough will also be on hand to provide face-to-face support on a variety of local services until 1pm.

Among the organisations attending the North Tawton event are: Devon Carers, Okehampton Community Transport, Parklands Leisure Centre, Learn Devon and Wessex Home Improvement Loans, whose specialist advisers will be available to offer their expert help and guidance on a variety of issues.

Copies of the plans will be available to view on the website and at the council's offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, and the customer services centre in St James Street, Okehampton, throughout the consultation period.

All those registered on the council's consultation database have been sent direct notification of the consultation. After the consultation period, the council will publish details of all the comments and views received. To be taken into account, comments must be made in writing.
