CONSERVATIVE A nearly came unstuck in the Tavistock Social Clubs snooker league as Conservative B nearly pulled off a shock win over unbeaten league leaders. Kellaway set the pace against Lacey with some good potting. Despite a late rally from Lacey it was Kellaway who held his nerve to put Con B one up.

The B team's Mark Evans is fast building a reputation as one of the better players in the league and this was underlined when he took Carruthers to a respotted black ball game only to suffer heartache as Carruthers doubled the black to win. Cook put Con A in front as he remained unbeaten with a comfortable win over Angie Ward. A dour safety battle with Dolan making it all square for the B team with a close win over Folley, as he took more of the limited oportunities this tight game offered.

The league then welcomed its second lady player — Shanie Evans. Not being overawed she more than matched Con A's unbeaten Babb in the early stages with a nice combination of safety and potting. Babb however proved the stronger as he took control to make it 3-2 to Con A on the night.

West Devon B made short work of bottom side Con D with a 5-0 trouncing. Moule made a fine comeback to overhaul a 25 plus lead to edge out Con's Wilkinson. John Rich despatched Holmes with his brother Roger taking care of Palmer to make it 3-0. Bath had no trouble with Con D's Hoare, as Bath romped home 57-10. A captain's innings from Gilchrist accounted for May as Gilchrist persevered in a tight battle.
