WEST Devon Connect, a borough council initiative to help rural communities take up services, is going out on the road for a week from Monday October 22. The council is teaming up with Devon County Council?s mobile library, visiting communities in the area with a borough council customer service adviser travelling alongside. Since the beginning of the year, the council has set up regular drop-in surgeries in Chagford, Lifton, North Tawton, Bere Alston and Hatherleigh and further surgeries are planned for other areas over the next few months. Advisers have been able to help with thousands of enquiries, ranging from requesting a recycling box, to reporting street cleaning and receiving information on how to apply for housing benefit and council tax benefit. The mobile library ? with a council adviser on board ? visits Marystow, Sprytown, Lifton, Portgate, Stowford, Bratton Clovelly, Moorview, Lewdown and Bridestowe on Monday October 22, Bere Alston , Horrabridge and Yelverton on Tuesday October 23 and Horndon, Mary Tavy, Brentor, Lydford, Bridestowe, Inwardleigh and Follygate on Wednesday October 24.
