HORRABRIDGE Primary School extended its role to include people from all age ranges within the community when it played host to one of West Devon Connect's outreach events.

At the first of a series of regular drop-in sessions planned for the village, the Connect team were joined by a wide range of partners, including Tavistock Area Support Services, South West Water, Citizens Advice Bureau, and Tavistock Children's Centre.

More than 150 residents came along to gather useful information on all manner of services and facilities. The children were well catered for too, with face-painting, street-surfing and the opportunity to have a close look at the emergency vehicles on display in their playground.

Borough councillors for the Walkham area, Debo Sellis and David Cloke, attended the event. Cllr Cloke said: 'It was extremely pleasing to see that the launch was so well attended by the residents of Horrabridge. There is a planned programme of future events that will take us up until December this year sponsored by local organisations which will take place in the village hall so please look out for further publicity.'

Cllr Sellis added: 'The outreach launch in Horrabridge School was well received by many local residents and it was heartening to see so many people of all ages, genuinely appreciating the wealth of information and support that is available in our local community.

Future outreach sessions will be held in the village hall every two months, starting on July 27 at 10am until noon.
