WEST Devon Borough Council?s Connect team will be bringing some Christmas cheer during two of the borough?s traditional events ?Okehampton?s Edwardian Evening on Thursday December 6, and Tavistock?s Dickensian Evening on Friday December 7. The Connect team, staffed by the council?s customer service advisers, can help residents find out about scores of services of which they may not be aware. Joining the team at the Edwardian Evening festivities at the council?s offices in St James Street will be officers from West Devon?s recycling and planning departments. A recycling officer will be joining the team again the following evening in Tavistock?s Tourist Information Centre, for the Dickensian event. Both events are from 6pm to 9pm. The team will be getting into the spirit of the event by dressing in period costume and offering light festive fare. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to enter a free draw, with prizes donated by Morrison?s supermarket, Waitrose, Leisure Connection, the Wharf, and Merlin Cinemas. The Connect team runs regular surgeries in different areas of the borough to bring services to the doorstep of residents. Currently, the surgeries are held in Bere Alston, Hatherleigh, North Tawton, Chagford and Lifton.
