TAVISTOCK Musical Theatre Company will be providing the entertainment at a special concert being held in the town hall this month. The town mayor?s Christmas Charity Evening will take place on Monday December 12, when a variety of seasonal music will be on the menu. Peter Clement, chairman of the theatre company, said: ?We?re going to be doing a selection from Gilbert and Sullivan, a selection from the shows, plus some Christmas carols and festive songs.? Profits from the concert will be donated to Mencap and Children?s Hospice South West. It is going to be a busy week for the company ? in addition to the mayor?s concert, the company is performing with Stannary Brass Band on Saturday December 10 in St Eustachius Church ? and their Christmas Concert will be held at the Wharf on December 14. Each concert has a different programme, so company members have their work cut out as far as rehearsals are concerned. Peter said: ?It?s a horrendous amount of work, but we are doing it because it is our 50th anniversary this year ? and it?s my last year as chairman of the company.? Tickets for the mayor?s charity Christmas concert, costing £6 each, are on sale in Tavistock Pannier Market office, the council offices in Drake Road, the town hall and at Soft Touch Needlecraft in the pannier market precinct.
