YOUNG people will benefit from the funds raised at next week's charity concert in Okehampton staged by the Mayor of West Devon.

Youthwize has helped hundreds of young people in Devon since it was established five years ago and it is the chosen charity of the Mayor Richard Phillips this year.

Cllr Phillips is hoping the remaining tickets will be snapped up for next Wednesday's event (September 18) at the Charter Hall so the maximum funds can be raised.

The concert features the Band of the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and starts at 7.30pm.

Refreshments will also be provided in the ticket price of £4 and a grand draw will include an £80 hamper from Waitrose.

Youthwize services include Wheelz — a unit which has the capacity to take all areas of work into the rural community, especially where young people are isolated and unable to access information and support; Under 19s drugs and alcohol awareness; Young Carers who have recently been helped by the Prince's Trust to produce drama work around the theme of young carers and a Counselling Service with referrals from GPs, schools and colleges.

Tickets are available in advance from Donald's Menswear in Okehampton, tourist information centres in Okehampton and Tavistock or on the door.
