ALL the artistes playing at the sixth annual WARchild Gala Charity Concert in the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery at 7pm on May 17 are generously donating their time in support of this fund-raising concert for WARchild, the charity helping children affected by the horrors and trauma of war.
Alison Stephens, the well-known international mandolin player, who popularised her instrument when she played for the sound track of the film ?Captain Corelli?s Mandolin?, will be playing works by Telemann, Masaji and Persichini.
Peter Fisher, the ever popular violinist, will be accompanied by pianist Philip R Buttall in playing works by D?Ambrosia, Philip R Buttall and an exciting arrangement of Widdicombe Fair set by Peter himself and played in the style of Paganini.
Clive Jenkins, the well-known local composer and accomplished pianist, will also be joined by Philip R Buttall in a duo partnership playing works by Schubert, Debussy and Philip?s own ?Three?s Company! March?; with Marsha Head stepping in to provide the extra hands for the stirring six hand composition.
Suzanne Manuell, Cornwall?s leading mezzo-soprano will be singing works by Rossini, Puccini and Levant accompanied by Anthony Seddon on the piano and the highly acclaimed pianist, John Bryden, will be playing works by J S Bach and Prokofiev.
For the followers of music of excellence this will be an evening to savour and at £10 a ticket one of excellent value. Tickets can be bought from the Museum Shop (01752 304779 ? not Monday), from Jeanie Moore MVO (01752 770345) and on the door (subject to availability).
There are also a limited number of Duke of Cornwall supper tickets available at £10 when guests will have an opportunity to meet the artistes; these can only be bought in advance.
All the ticket money will be supporting WARchild ? expenses for the concert are being covered by the Plymouth solicitors, Wolferstans and accountants, Atkey Goodman.
