A COOKING competition for budding young chefs from Okehampton College to mark Devon Food Week has had to be cancelled, because of problems with the college's new technology block.
The student cooking competition using local produce and a traditional food market were due to be held in the Charter Hall, Okehampton, this Saturday, October 4, marking the opening of Devon Celebration of Food Week which runs until October 12.
Problems with gas supply in Okehampton College's new state-of-the-art block mean catering facilities cannot be used effectively. This has meant organisers have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel the event.
However, the customary Okehampton 'Big Breakfast' organised by Derek Godfrey-Brown will go ahead.
The Plume of Feathers will again be serving up a full English breakfast' between 8am-10.30am on Tuesday, October 7, using only the finest ingredients from the West Devon area.
