BOB Gee Insurance and Bartlett Davies Bicks Insurance are expanding, following the joint purchase of town firm Stonelynk Insurance. Bob Gee Insurance has been operating in Okehampton since 1972 while Stonelynk have featured in the town for the past 18 years. Bartlett Davies Bicks have been operating since 1959 in Paignton, but only began operating in Okehampton in October 2004 when they purchased Bob Gee?s personal insurance portfolio. Bob said there would be a ?smooth transition? when the change comes into effect on March 1, as the existing staff were being employed and would operate out of the office in West Street. He said the move would strengthen both his and Bartlett Davies Bicks position by expanding their client base. Three years ago, Bob sold the IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) part of the business to Carter and Co from Kingskerswell, who continued running the business in Okehampton. John Moppett, who established Stonelynk in 1988, said he wanted to thank all his clients for their support over the years. He said now he was retiring from the insurance industry, he was excited by the chance presented to reassess, and develop new beginnings. He believed the move was ?good news for the town?, as it would ensure that independent insurance advice would still be available in Okehampton.
