RESIDENTS in Horrabridge will have a chance to air their views at a special Community Action Day being held on Thursday March 13. The event is being organised by South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership, and run as a joint venture with West Devon Police Neighbourhood Team, Devon and Somerset Fire Service, West Devon Homes, Care and Repair, West Devon Crime Prevention and West Devon Borough Council. Representatives from all these organisations will be knocking on doors in Horrabridge next Thursday with the aim of bringing reassurance to residents and introducing themselves and their services as those who can help to improve quality of life. Each household will be given an informative pack and the opportunity to request a visit, for example, for a fire safety check, or a crime prevention survey. Residents will also be able to drop in to the parish hall between 9am and 4pm, to speak to representatives about issues which concern them. Officers will be able to offer advice and take action on issues such as safety in the home, fire prevention, anti-social behaviour, dog fouling or illegal waste dumping. Residents will also be asked about the community issues they feel are important to them and what more can be done to make their community a safer and happier place to be. It is hoped as many issues as possible will be dealt with on the day. If a problem cannot be resolved 'on the spot' then officers will take full details and arrange for a revisit to tackle the issue at a later date.
