NORTH Tawton will, this year, commemorate Armistice Day at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day by gathering at the steps of the town hall to remember the end of the first world war and all who have given their lives since then. The Royal British Legion North Tawton branch will set the boom followed by the Last Post. At the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour two minutes silence will be observed, followed by the Reveille.

The Remembrance parade on Sunday, November 14, will start at 10.35am from the Square, as led, with standards, by the various organisations, including the young people's organisations, of North Tawton.

The parade will arrive at St Peter's Church in readiness for the Remembrance Sunday service at 11am which will be led by the Rev David Muir and the Rev Phillip Wagstaff. Afterwards, the parade will continue to the cemetery so as to lay the wreaths and this will be accompanied by a prayer and exhortation.

NORTH Tawton Rangers are hosting a pudding party at North Tawton Town Hall today (Thursday) from 7pm. Tickets are £5 available from North Tawton Post Office or at the door. An evening of tasting and enjoying as many different home-made puddings as you like. All proceeds are for Rangers funds.

NORTH Tawton Pre-School and Busy Bees are holding a coffee morning at North Tawton Town Hall on Saturday, November 13 from 10am to mid-day. There will be various stalls and all are welcome.

A RESTORATION Revels Concert starring the 'Wag from Widdecombe', Tony Beard, along with the Men's Forum of Okehampton, Bert Stead, the Rev Irving Pemberthy on accordion, and a surprise local guest, will be presented by Lakeway United Church at North Tawton Town Hall on Saturday, November 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, to include tea and cakes, and may be obtained by telephoning Rose Dadds on 01837 82130 or at the door. All proceeds for church restoration funds.

THE young actors of North Tawton, YANTS, are busy rehearsing for their next production, the popular Lionel Bart musical by 'Oliver!', as produced and directed by Wendy Hill. Performances take place at the town hall from Thursday, November 25, through to Saturday, November 27, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available in advance from North Tawton Post Office; adults £6 and under 14s £4.
