THE ladies' group met this month, as usual on the first Thursday, when one of the members did some Christmas cookery. This was enjoyed by all, especially when everyone could try what had been made. There will be no meeting at the hall in December, as the group are going to the Torridge Inn for their Christmas meal. The next meeting will be in February, when Taw and Torridge caring will give a talk. The 150 Club was drawn and the winners for this month were: 1, Katherine Bailey; 2, Bill Moast; 3, Nancy Dart; 4, Helen Chapman. ST Mary's Church supported 'Operation Christmas Child' again this year and sent 134 boxes for Samaritans Purse from Black Torrington. Thanks were expressed to everyone who filled a shoebox. AN enjoyable concert was held at the church on November 10 with 'The Cedars Big Band'. Thanks were expressed to all who supported the event, raising £706 for church funds. On Sunday 3rd December a Christingle Service, led by Sister Mandy Wright, is being held in the church at 3pm, followed by tea. All are welcome. THE village carol service is being held in the church at 7.30pm on Friday December 22. THE village hall is still having its Saturday morning monthly markets. These are proving very popular - this month there were 15 stalls, selling everything from Village Green Crafts, cards, wrapping paper, produce, bric-a-brac and more. The next will be the Christmas market on Saturday December 9 from 10am to noon. If you would like to book a table ring 01409 231373 as soon as possible.
